Mandagsovernatting

When I started working in Sandvika in August 2023, I for some reason went camping two consecutive Mondays. And after the second one, a thought hit me: what if I go camping every Monday from now on?

And so I did. For two years.

And it must admit, it was probably the best routine I have ever had. Every Monday I would pack my backpack and set off on an adventure. Sometimes I would go deep into the forest, sometimes to the ocean, sometimes my motivation didn’t take me longer than to Kalvøya. But in general, Mondays went from being, well Mondays, to being a weekly adventure I was excited to experience.

My assumption that camping was a weekend-activity was disproven. After all, why limit any activities to the weekends? If you love doing something, you’ll always find a way to make it work. It might require a change in routines or some creative planning. But if the activity is important enough, it is always worth it.

Another aspect where my weekly adventures have helped me is dealing with being uncomfortable. I would sometimes find myself deep in the forest, in complete darkness, all alone. In the wintertime, snow and freezing temperatures added some extra discomfort.

But I survived.

And it gave me confidence. Confidence that I am able to survive in this world, both in the waking state and while sleeping.

So I would like to thank Mondays for enabling me to comfortably travel around Central America with not much more than a hammock in my backpack.
